The US Pecan Industry is an exciting market to be right now. With the newly formed American Pecan Board now officially running, the future of the pecan industry looks brighter than ever. The American Pecan Board was formed by volunteers in the US Pecan industry to create the Federal Marketing Order which will allow for more accurate data collection in the American Pecan Industry along with a myriad of other benefits such as standardization across the industry in quality, packaging, and marketing. While the American Pecan Board is newly formed, the work behind the scenes is anything but new. The marketing efforts by organizations such as the National Pecan Growers Council aka “U.S. Pecans” has been expansive and effective. Formed in 2011 with the support of both growers and sheller’s, the organization has been very active in foreign markets presenting U.S. Pecans to food buyers, trading companies, chefs, and many others. Since the marketing efforts of the various US Pecan Industry organizations accelerated in the past years, the price of pecans has reflected these efforts with steady and stable growth right along with the increasing supply. As pecan markets around the world are developed and nurtured by the U.S. Pecan Industry the current increased demand is likely here to stay.
