The Stuart pecan crop is a mixed review with some pecan growers saying their trees came back with a good crop, and other growers saying that their Stuarts look a little light this year. The Desirable pecan crop looks to be good with an average crop set. The Cape Fear pecan crop has good reports coming from growers around the state as well as from Alabama. Elliot pecan trees look to be light this year which means the retail market buyers may want to contact pecan suppliers early. With the popularity of the Elliot pecan increasing in the snack market, supplies could be limited with a light Elliot pecan crop this year. Scab pressure is moderate but with recent rains and a perpetual 30% chance of rain, scab season has arrived in the south east and growers are in full swing.
