Plant Food Systems, Inc., manufacturer of Kphite 7lP Fungicide/Bactericide says the product is moving into the southeast as pecan growers initiate their 2021 fungicide spray program. Gary Veal, Georgia based Technical Sales Agronomist, says that pecan growers are increasing the use of Kphite 7LP, planning multiple applications in early sprays. Veal says, the current University of Georgia recommendation places more emphasis on using phosphite fungicides in early sprays. pre and early post-pollination.
Veal comments, pecan growers and consultants have seen that the Kphite 7LP chemistry results in a better start than any other fungicide program. In 2021, we expect and off-year with regards to production after a record crop in 2020. The southeastern US has the most intense pressure from pecan scab. In 2021 Veal says, we have to focus on the fungicides that work well, and are the least expensive. Fortunately, the shift in focus to phosphite fungicides, like Kphite 7LP, provides growers a less expensive alternative that can be used in sequential applications.
For packaging, Veal says that Plant Food Systems, Inc., is close to the market. We manufacture Kphite 7LP in jugs, 2 x 2.5 gl cases, 250 gl mini-bulk, and true bulk. Further commenting, Veal says growers are increasingly utilizing Kphite 7LP. Since the use rate is 2-3 quarts per acre, Veal says growers can change to the 250 gl mini-bulk or true bulk systems.
According to Veal, Plant Food Systems, Inc., has limited distribution with partners in Georgia and other states. If a grower has trouble finding Kphite 7LP have them contact me.
