USDA (NASS) PECAN CROP PRODUCTION REPORT

On October 12, 2017 the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), Agricultural Statistics Board, United States Department of Agriculture released the Crop Production Report. In the Crop production report US pecan farmers reported their production acreage along with an estimate of their 2017 pecan crop production. This is information is separated by state along with improved and non-improved variety production. I would like to note however that the Crop Report only includes 8 of the 15 pecan producing states. The crop report figures are listed below.

The crop report has listed the total in-shell production estimate for the United States at 277.4 million pounds +/-, up 3% from last year. The crop estimate also states that, if accurate, the estimated production for New Mexico will be a record high. There have been a few changes since the data was collected, such as Louisiana now predicting to harvest less than half of their original estimate, and growers in Oklahoma and Texas also reporting lower than expected yields. Only time will tell what the actual pecan production volumes will shake out at. Click here to view the full USDA (NASS) Crop Report.
