As the end of the year is drawing near, so too is the end of another harvest season in the Southeastern United States. Growers in this region are reporting 85 percent complete or higher with most reporting 90 to 95 percent, and of course some growers are already finished harvesting. As we finish out the season in this area we can all agree that prices have done very well this year and continue to stay strong with demand still outweighing the current supply. As we look at this year as an industry I am very proud of what the US Pecan council has accomplished in moving this industry forward with the establishment of the Federal Marketing Order, the voting in of the first term board members, and holding the first meeting as an organization. I have high hopes for the future of this industry and what our newly formed FMO will accomplish.
