A couple weeks back you will remember the article we posted about the In-shell pecan prices paid to growers on the farm, questioning whether or not prices would drop after the Chinese New Year “cut off” date. Well that day has come and gone and the answer to the question we asked is a definitive no. Prices did see a small down tick during the last week of November, but have quickly recovered and seems to be steadily climbing. With estimates of the crop size now waning a little, buyers have increased bid prices a little more, to make sure they are able to fill existing contracts; and with the end of harvest fast approaching we may see prices continue to climb as long as demand outpaces the current estimated supplies.
