As the south African pecan harvest and the Australia pecan harvest get underway the growers in these two regions are very happy with the current pecan prices. As the demand around the world continues to increase, due largely in part to US Pecans efforts, pecan growers around the world are reaping the benefits. The US is the largest supplier, but with worlds appetite for pecans continuing to outpace supply, pecan growers everywhere are seeing more returns on the farm than ever before. It has been estimated that 80% of the South African Pecan crop has already been contracted by local processors for exports. If these estimates are accurate pecan growers in both south Africa and Australia will likely see prices hold at these higher levels.
