The National Pecan Shellers Association meets today and tomorrow (SEP 13th-14th) for the annual fall meeting in Coronado, California to discuss the pecan industry’s current and future conditions.

The National Pecan Shellers Association is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia and is made up of pecan shellers located primarily in the US and Mexico. The organization has been in existence since 1943 and recently celebrated its 75th anniversary with an article in a local Texas pecan magazine. The events will begin today with a board of directors meeting along with a Sheller meeting and vendor setup. Friday will be filled with a full day of talks beginning with Barb Stuckey of Mattson Co., Food & Beverage Product Development. Following this, Mr. Bob Redding of the Redding Firm will give updates for the National Pecan Federation and the work being done in Washington on behalf of pecans. Later the NPSA will update about progress of ongoing work by the organization, followed by global pecan production estimates by Dan Zedan of Navarro Pecan Co., along with other tree nut production by Evo Soria of John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. Then Dan York of York Pecan Company will give the annual pecan crop forecast. The meeting will conclude with a Hawaiian themed diner and industry awards.
