The American Pecan Council has organized a “Pecan-A-Thon” where they will have celebrity host Wendi McLendon-Covey along with food bloggers hosting an online variety show where they will display new and traditional ways of using American Pecans in dishes as well crafts. The show will be online at www.epicurious.com and will be interactive, allowing viewers to comment and ask questions during the show. The American Pecan Council has been hard at work taking advantage of this time of year to promote pecans and asking the public to commit to making atleast one more dish with American Pecans this year during the holidays. This is traditionally the time of year when retail pecan sales are at the highest due to many customers utilizing pecans for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. However the American Pecan Council is attempting to break out of the traditional uses, by getting consumers to see pecans as more than just for the holidays, they are doing this through social media marketing and various other avenues by utilizing the knowledge and experience of international marketing firm Weber-Shandwick.
