The United States has long dominated the global pecan landscape as well as the global pecan market. While North America is the largest grower of pecans in the world producing more than 80% of the worlds pecan supply, it is the American Pecan Companies that handle, process, bag and shell the majority of the worlds pecan supply. We have kept tabs on the export values of both in-shell and shelled pecans around the globe and as most pecan producers already know, the price of pecans has increased yet again. From 2016 to 2017 pecan export values increased a staggering 30% overall. A closer look at the pecan data shows that In-shell pecans (GCE:NPCN) rose 27% over the previous year from a total global export value of $239,950,000 in 2016 to a total of $303,641,000 in 2017. Shelled pecans (GCE:SPCN) had an even better year, rising a massive 33% from a total global export value of $264,089,000 in 2016 to $350,980,000. The global demand for pecans is expected to continue to rise for the foreseeable future as the pecan industry strives to increase supply.
